Beloved children of God, I spent many years during my life in meditation and doing tasks and activities in meditative ways. As I regularly lived from this quiet, peaceful, and centered place within, I felt as though I carried the strength and courage to stand up for others in social justice and equality.

My expanded humanity blossomed through the discipline of meditation, which called me to leave the world and go inside in order to be able to serve others out in the world. My intellectual life studying at university and my training as a lawyer were exceptionally enhanced by living in the throes of discrimination and racism as an Indian man in the British Empire.

That I was able to go to university and study to change my life and plight in Indian society was an extraordinary blessing and privilege. I knew from the time I was very young that I wanted to improve the living conditions and the quality of life of all Indians through my education and the opportunity to serve them.
