Essences of Nature: Fighting What is Right

Essences of Nature: Fighting What is Right Mary Ann Altamarino Antenucci

We know what we want. We know what it feels like to be on track. More importantly, we know what it feels like to be off track. So much of our energy is focused on how to bargain with what might not be in our best interests. We want to do this. We want to feel that. We think we should be this. We could be that if only we tried a little bit harder.

It is in our nature to want and to strive. We wouldn't be able to sit at our computers and answer emails or even read this magazine if someone hadn't wanted and striven to do something more. What gets us in trouble is making choices that go against our nature. We know what is right, but we somehow twist and turn it so it feels wrong. We have gifts and talents, but we bemoan the fact that we can't do something else. We wrestle. We measure ourselves by what we aren't as opposed to what we are, then we spend a lifetime trying to get to that place of peace and self-acceptance—after fighting what is right.
