The acronym FEAR has been going around the coaching community. It stands for false evidence appearing real. That kind of says it all, but who declares what is real and what is false? We do. And what do we do about fear? During World War II, Franklin Delano Roosevelt proclaimed: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
Our challenge is to remain optimistic when the focus tilts toward the dire. Dire is not our code. All of us have faced dire on one level or another, but we are still here. What does the feeling of fear want us to know? That is our lesson.
