Mercury retrograde has a bad reputation. We blame it for everything that goes wrong even though things go wrong when Mercury isn’t retrograde. He is the scapegoat of the cosmos, and although there is some truth to the idea that things are more likely to go awry when he turns backward, we also tend to overlook the gifts of his reverse motion. This has much to do with the way our society is wired — toward forward movement, progress, achievement, order, predictability, and an aversion to chaos. This month, we need to remember that creativity exists within chaos.
