Phone Calls from the Future — Chapter 6: Water on the Moon
Phone Calls from the Future — Chapter 6: Water on the Moon Doc through Robert Shapiro
What is the prevailing opinion in your time: Could people ever move to the Moon and live there full-time, even though there is no water?
No, people do not live there, but they might visit. Even in the times we have been discussing, some people might’ve been on the Moon for a while, but it is not the kind of place you would retire to or hang your hat by the door. It’s rough, and at the very best it’s rustic, so to speak, so no.
Okay. How do you stake out your territory? Is it like gold mining in the old West, where the first one there stakes out a claim?
No. It’s much more easygoing than that. There isn’t anything like that. Besides, when we got there, there were already “other” people there. I don’t know what it would’ve been like if we got there first, but we didn’t. Generally speaking, people are helpful as long as you are not digging where they are digging. We don’t get in anyone’s way. There is a tendency to be helpful. So, no, there are no claims as you know it.
