Water by nature is an integral part of life here on this planet. It cleanses and nourishes. Throughout history, water has been associated with spiritual cleansing and blessings. The term “holy water” generally indicates that the water has been blessed by a clergy member or religious figure for use in blessings or cleansing. Many people are familiar with water baptism or entering a Catholic church and dipping their fingers into the font of holy water to bless themselves. While the water itself doesn’t contain magical properties, the power of this water comes from the prayers and faith of the person who created the holy water and the person using it.
