The concept of free will came about because humanity asked for it, believing it was necessary for its evolution. Without free will, rising civilizations would have been static and controlled. Free will has allowed many amazing things to be developed in amazingly different ways. That said, free will is a double-edged sword. It also allows many horrific things to happen because egos reign so powerfully in those who thirst for power. We are not talking just about the leaders of the world, as this desire extends through all levels of society.
